These are broad generalizations and some women may follow a different path, but these seasons of life are common enough for women that we should acknowledge them here before talking further about perimenopause, menopause, and avoiding divorce.
Each season involves a different set of priorities and outlooks on life. Knowing these priorities as they relate to her personal goals, social programming, reproductive status, sex drive, perspective of life, and her experiences helps you better relate to her and understand where she’s coming from.
It’s worth thinking about these seasons because when perimenopause hits, knowing where she’s been will lend perspective to where she may feel like she is headed or not headed next and that may significantly impact you both.
